As it can be easily guessed, the purpose of this investment aims at the fruition of the extraordinary
positioning of this tourist objective, access to the property is made from a private paved access road
registered in CF 7621 Vadu Crisului topo 2065/1, directly from the county road 1081 Vadu Crisului -
Suncuius just before entering the administrative territory of the Suncuius locality, the property has
access to public transport via bus lines, the stations are at a relatively average distance from the
evaluated property but also from the locality`s railway station, access to this the tourist ensemble being
an extremely easy and versatile one at the same time, because it allows access to the special natural
facilities of the area, the most important and at the same time spectacular formation in the area being
indisputably the Defileul Crişului Repede, which has the status of a mixed nature reserve, being included
in the Natura 2000 site Crișului Repede Gorge �` Craiului Forest.
The area of the great meander of Crișului Repede, just before the entrance to the village, which houses a
series of important caves for the paleontological discoveries made here:
o Napišteleu Cave �` tomb with a rich inventory, which probably belonged to a chief from the Hallstatt
period. A Dacian vessel was also discovered next to it, dated on the basis of a coin issued by the city of
Dyrrachium (1st-2nd century B.C.). Upper Pleistocene fossiliferous deposit.
o Ungurului Cave (partially visitable, arranged for tourism, illuminated, shelters colonies of bats), with its
impressive portal. Here there is an archaeological site located at floor level. 15 vessels, bleiz pieces and
Hallstatt amulets were discovered and ceramic fragments worked on the wheel during the century. IX-XI,
belonging to the Lesiana culture.
o The speleological research carried out by T. Borodan and I. Cociuba in this cave led, next to the
junction of the Moanei Cave with the Lesiana Cave, to the discovery of some ceramic pieces belonging to
the ford culture. Fossiliferous point with Ursus spelaeus.
o There is also a via ferrata route that can be traveled relatively easily by anyone, as well as a cliff
equipped for sport climbing (Zenovia cabin area, on the water`s edge), which has about 15 routes.
o Pârâul Tare Canyon - located on the left bank of the Crişului, in the immediate vicinity of the Unguruli
Cave.
a `barat spur` type fortification from the Iron Age, located on Simionului Hill.
o From here starts the Mişidului Valley (a tributary of the Crișului Repede, it comes from its left bank),
which in turn houses dozens of caves and is crossed by the blue triangle tourist marker, which comes
from the Cave Hut in the Crișului Repede Gorge, going up to to Lesiana Cave (12 km in total). The valley
has a sector of quays with a length of over 2 km.
o Peştera Vântului - located above the outlet from Poiana Frânturii (below W. Mişidului), is the longest
cave in Romania. The research undertaken by the Caving Club C.S.A. Cluj-Napoca, have so far led to the
surveying of about 50 km of galleries. The Wind Cave is of particular scientific importance, which is why
access can only be done with the consent and in the presence of authorized guides of the C.S.A. Cluj.
Among the elements of maximum interest, we mention the `Emil Racoviţă` Meanders, the 1 Mai Gallery,
the aragonite and gypsum speleothems, respectively the black mineral deposits, whose composition
represents a rarity worldwide.
o Şuncuiuş Village - first documentary attestation: 1256. It is the starting point for the Zece Hotare karst
plateau, a particularly beautiful area suitable for hiking and caving. It houses 10 isolated hamlets and the
Batrânului Cave and is dominated by the exokarst relief, with forms such as sinkholes, lapis lazuli,
sinkholes. It houses many traditional households and lime-making is practiced here. The plateau is
difficult to access in winter.
o Izbucul and P. Izbândiş �` in the Izbândiş Cave (located at the base of the Zece Hotare plateau), several
ceramic fragments from the Coţofeni and Hallstatt periods were discovered alongside remains of Ursus
spelaeus. From here starts the blue cross tourist marker, which goes up to the Zece Hotare plateau and
goes to P. Bătrânului (8 km in total).
o The mixed reservation of the Crişului Repede Gorge protects the values of the special landscape, the
caves and their cavernous fauna, but especially the special flora. The limestone walls show a southern
flora, a vestige of a xerothermic vegetation (eg Ceterach officinalis, balkan ferifa). European species
coexist here (blueberry, cow`s butter) with Eurasian species (yellow oleander), Mediterranean
(earthworm), circumpolar (Easter flower) and Carpatho-Balkan species (brandusa, fern). Protected
species: sedge and variegated tulip, wild onion, deaf grass, Fritillaria meleagris. The fauna includes
different species of amphibians, reptiles (including the viper), small mammals (of which all species of
bats are protected by law).
